We are the most northern team in the British Dragonboat Association (BDA) league. In the BDA league we race from April to October, averaging one race per month. Normal race distances are 250m (short race) and 500m (standard race) with the occasional 1000m thrown in for good measure.
Over the years, the club has also organised trips to compete at events overseas including Penang, China, South Africa and Canada.
We have one permanent race boat and two training boats so we can accommodate lots of new people. Our boats are stored at and we train out of Durham Amateur Rowing Club which is situated on the River Wear. As a Serpent we have use of the Rowing Club's facilities which includes newly refurbished showers, toilets, bar as well as free parking.
Whilst our members come from different backgrounds, fitness levels and ages we all enjoy fresh air and exercise in the beautiful surroundings of historic Durham City.
All can come along and have a go for free but if you are a regular attendee you will need to become a member.

Hi Guys
Had the pleasure of meeting the combined team that came out to S.A for the 1998 International Dragon Boat Regatta. The team consisted of Amathus, Three River Serpents and some other clubs and went under the name of "Welsh Dragon Boat Team". I met some wonderful people, some of whom I have unfortunately lost contact with. An awesome time was had by all!! Great Sportsmanship all around. Take Care and have a blessed Christmas and new Year! Regards, Shelton (Ex- Captain of the Cape Town Paddelsnappers Dragon Boat Team):-)PS would love to hear from you!
