The main news this season is that Three River Serpents are traveling out to Toronto for this huge event  http://www.2006ccwc.com/   We have numerous paddlers committed to the competing squad and will be racing  crews from around the world at the purpose-built, brand new regatta course.

Actual money has been extracted from the following gullible Serpees:

   Wennington John, Mayes Kendal,
        Tinggaard 'Turner' Nielsen Tina,
               Anderson James, Dodd Caroline,

                       Hole Michael, Fyfe Marguerita,
                          Clack Roy, Webb Leonard,
                            Blakey Paul, Turner Susie,
        Nattrass Michael, Gutteridge Kerry,
        Clark Les, Wilkinson Julie,
        King Gaynor, Breheny Michelle,
        Tweedy Kevin, Downs Adie,

Duckett Glen, Kent Tristan, Williams Matt, Sheila and Sydnie.

Winter training has been focused specifically for this international event and as we move into the UK racing season we will be aiming to fine tune our crew in order to take on the world!  We are hoping to fund a new boat for the racing season which should help rather significantly - but that won't be the end of the trusty training and present race boat as there is always demand for corporate and community events which will keep them in action.  In fact, two boats may well be out on the river for training in the not too distant future.

Training Camp

We are privileged to have Jacqui Webber, international kayak, outrigger and dragonboat paddling coach coming all the way from Canada to train us over the Summer.  This is an amazing opportunity to fine tune the squad ready for Toronto.  The two-day training camp will be hosted at Derwent Reservoir.  We will be camping overnight at the venue - food and bar available!

Tyne Event

On Sunday May 7th, the Three River Serpents raced in a demonstration event to open the University Boat Race on the River Tyne, Sunday May 7th.  Two boats were launched from HMS Caliope and raced each other under the famous Tyne Bridges.  Thanks to everyone who took part in another successful community event.

Spring Training

As of March 29th:-

Sundays 10:00-12:00 (as usual)

Wednesdays 18:30-20:00

01 Time trials (yes, seriously) first Sunday of every month, sleet,
hail, typhoons etc permitting

If you would like additional 01 training, please ask James or Keni,
someone will be happy to go out with you :-)

Keni's 'K-nee'

Noticeably limpless, Miss Mayes (49) has begun a miraculous recovery catalysed by frequent secret visits to Vitality Chiropractic Centre at Kenton Park Shopping Centre.  Now that's three of us - I wonder if an advert for them would count as sponsorship then?
